Berrian Mountain is a summit in the Front Range that rises to 2,790 meters (9,151 feet) in Jefferson County, Colorado. The slopes are covered in dense forest mixed with exposed rock formations that shape the landscape.
The mountain was named after the Berrian family who arrived from Kansas to Colorado in 1887, replacing the earlier name McIntyre Mountain. This renaming marks an important shift in how the region was identified.
Local mountaineering groups regularly organize guided expeditions to the summit, contributing to the development of climbing routes and trail maintenance.
The hike from the trailhead near Aspen Park is moderately challenging with steady elevation gain and rooty, rocky terrain underfoot. Bring plenty of water and sturdy footwear, and prepare for changeable mountain weather.
