1600 Broadway was designed by RNL Design and completed in 1972, when it ranked as the seventh-tallest building in Denver. It now stands thirtieth among the city's high-rises. In January 2019, Nuveen Real Estate bought the tower for $111 million.
The building's main tenant is BOK Financial Corporation, formerly the Colorado State Bank, which gives the tower its other name, the Colorado State Bank Building. The bank's presence ties the address to Denver's financial district along Broadway.
