Cobb Peak, Mountain summit in Pioneer Mountains, Idaho, US
Cobb Peak is a mountain summit in the Pioneer Mountains that features steep rocky cliffs and multi-colored stone faces. The southern side is marked by deep gullies that run down the slope.
The peak gained attention as a climbing destination during the 1980s when more mountaineers began exploring the area. It has since become recognized as part of the important peaks in the Pioneer Mountains.
The peak forms part of the Pioneer Triumvite alongside Hyndman Peak and Old Hyndman Peak, representing key landmarks in Idaho's mountain geography.
The West Ridge route starts from upper Hyndman Creek and involves ascending through lower elevations before the terrain becomes steeper. Climbers should expect increasingly difficult sections as they gain altitude.
The southwest face rises steeply and drops significant elevation over a relatively short distance. The north side plunges directly into Hyndman Basin, creating a dramatic contrast.
