Beebe Bridge, Road bridge over Columbia River in Chelan, United States
Beebe Bridge is a road bridge spanning the Columbia River near Chelan, featuring two traffic lanes and pedestrian walkways on both sides. The steel through arch structure carries traffic along U.S. Route 97 between Chelan County and Douglas County.
The original structure was built in 1919 by the Beebe Orchard Company as a privately financed suspension bridge. The current steel arch bridge later replaced the historic span to meet modern transportation demands.
The bridge supported the growth of Washington's agricultural industry by connecting orchards on both sides of the Columbia River for fruit transportation.
The bridge is accessible to both vehicle traffic and pedestrians, with designated walkways for safe foot passage. Visitors can enjoy views of the river and surrounding landscape from these pathways while crossing.
The concrete towers from the original 1919 bridge remain visible downstream, marking where one of the region's earliest privately funded large-scale projects once stood. These remnants tell the story of early American infrastructure development.
