Panorama Mountain Resort, Ski resort in British Columbia, Canada.
Panorama Mountain Resort is a ski resort in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia, Canada, with runs for all skill levels served by a gondola and several chairlifts. At the base of the slopes sits a small village with lodging, restaurants, and shops.
The resort was founded in the 1960s when the first lifts and runs were cut into the Purcell Mountains. Over the following decades it grew gradually into a full destination with on-mountain lodging.
Winter sports traditions are visible here as visitors of all levels share the mountain environment and practice skiing and snowboarding skills. The place attracts people who embrace mountain-based recreation as part of their seasonal lifestyle.
The resort is about 11 miles (18 km) from Invermere and is easiest to reach by car, as no regular public transit serves the area. In winter, carrying chains or snow tires is a good idea since the mountain road can be tricky in bad weather.
Panorama has one of the longest vertical drops of any resort in the Canadian Rockies, which gives skiers long, uninterrupted runs. The resort is also known for its natural hot pool located right in the village.
