Lussier Hot Springs, Natural hot springs in Whiteswan Lake Provincial Park, Canada
Lussier Hot Springs is a natural thermal water site featuring four stone pools beside the Lussier River within the provincial park. Each pool holds water at different temperatures ranging from 34°C to 47°C, allowing visitors to find their preferred warmth.
In the early 1900s, the thermal waters attracted prospectors, trappers, and mountain guides exploring the surrounding wilderness. These early visitors helped reveal and gradually opened up this remote mountain location to others.
The springs sit on Ktunaxa First Nations traditional territory, a people with deep roots in this mountain region. The waters remain connected to Indigenous heritage, though modern visitors now share the space with the land's original keepers.
Access to the springs is through a short 5-minute walk from the parking area, which offers basic facilities including changing rooms and toilets. The path is straightforward, but can be slippery during wet seasons, so appropriate footwear helps.
Visitors can alternate between soaking in hot mineral pools and plunging into the cold river nearby, creating a natural temperature contrast. This switching between warmth and cold offers a refreshing sensation that many bathers find rejuvenating.
