Conrad Kain hut

The Conrad Kain Hut is a wooden mountain shelter located in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia that provides basic accommodation for climbers. The building has sleeping quarters for dozens of people and includes simple cooking facilities along with heating and lighting systems.

The shelter was built in 1972 and named after alpinist Conrad Kain, who first explored the surrounding Bugaboo peaks in the early 1900s. The structure preserves the story of how mountaineers opened up this granite region to climbing.

The hut serves as a gathering place where climbers from around the world meet and share their climbing experiences. It represents how mountaineering connects people and shapes the outdoor identity of this region.
