WZMH Architects designed this building in 1988 during a period of major growth in Calgary's downtown financial district. It has shaped the city's skyline since its completion.
The tower's name changed with its tenants: it opened as Canterra Tower, became Devon Tower in 2011, and was renamed 400 Third in 2023, matching its address at 400 3rd Avenue SW. Law firm Norton Rose Fulbright LLP is a major tenant, and Oxford Properties owns and manages the building.
