Mindbender, Indoor roller coaster in Galaxyland, Edmonton, Canada
Mindbender is a steel roller coaster located inside the Galaxyland amusement park in Edmonton, Alberta. The track winds through three vertical loops and follows a winding path across the climate-controlled indoor space.
The ride opened in December 1985 as part of West Edmonton Mall. After 36 years of operation, it permanently closed in 2021.
The Mindbender influenced generations of Canadian thrill-seekers as the largest indoor triple-loop roller coaster, setting standards for indoor amusement attractions across North America.
The ride was accessible to people between 1.5 meters (4 feet 11 inches) and 1.96 meters (6 feet 5 inches) tall. The constant indoor temperature provided consistent conditions throughout the year.
The fourth car of each train ran backward, so some riders experienced the loops and drops in reverse. The maximum force reached 5.6g during certain sections of the course.
