Nowhere, unincorporated community in Caddo County, Oklahoma
Nowhere is a small rural community in Caddo County, Oklahoma, located at the southeast end of Fort Cobb Reservoir. The settlement consists of just a few buildings, including a gas station, a bait and tackle shop, and a water tower, sitting on flat terrain with red soils typical of the region.
Fort Cobb Reservoir was built in the late 1950s to control flooding and provide water for the area. The small community of Nowhere remained largely unchanged after its construction, though the reservoir's appeal gradually drew more visitors interested in fishing and water recreation.
The name 'Nowhere' was painted on a water tower in the 1960s or 1970s by a local business owner as a playful reference to the community's remote location. This simple act of humor has shaped how people view and remember this small place today.
The place is easily reached via county roads but has no public transportation. The nearest towns of Albert and Anadarko are just a short drive away and offer shops, schools, and services not available in the community itself.
Recho Omondi, a notable person from Nowhere, became known as a podcaster and designer after growing up in this tiny community. Her story shows how life in such a small place can lead to unexpected paths and accomplishments.
