Tang Rimochen Lhakhang, Buddhist monastery in Tang Valley, Bhutan
Tang Rimochen Lhakhang sits on the western bank of the Tang Chuu River near Misethang village and displays traditional Bhutanese architecture against a cliff face. The structure blends local building styles with a natural rock formation as its backdrop.
The monastery was founded in the 14th century by Pema Lingpa and later restored in the 19th century by Penlop Dorje Tsoke from Trongsa District. This restoration helped preserve the structure for later generations.
The temple houses sacred artworks and texts important to the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Visitors can observe traditional Buddhist artistic styles and religious paintings accumulated over centuries.
Visitors reach the site through a marked walking path with a Chorten gate serving as the entrance. A good starting point is the Kunzandra cliff area in the east, and the approach involves moderate walking conditions.
Large boulders below the temple display tiger stripe patterns and footprints attributed by local tradition to Padmasambhava and his companions. Pilgrims venerate these natural markings as sacred signs during visits.
