Saint Mark Parish, Administrative parish in southwestern Dominica
Saint Mark Parish is an administrative division on the southwestern coast of Dominica with Soufrière as its main center. The area spans roughly 10 square kilometers and includes several smaller settlements scattered along the shoreline.
The parish boundaries were established during British colonial rule in Dominica. It forms one of the ten administrative divisions that structure the island nation.
The communities of Soufrière and Scotts Head depend on traditional fishing, which feeds local families and supplies fresh catches to nearby markets. This way of life shapes daily rhythms along the coast.
The parish is reached via the main coastal road from Roseau, with regular minibus services connecting the settlements throughout the day. The dry season offers the best conditions for exploring the area and its coastal spots.
The area contains Scotts Head, where a narrow strip of land connects the mainland coast to an isolated volcanic crater. This formation is a distinctive natural feature that offers views across both sides of the land.
