Siau Tagulandang Biaro Islands, Island regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia
Siau Tagulandang Biaro Islands is a regency in North Sulawesi comprising three main islands and numerous smaller formations spread across the Celebes Sea. The territory is organized into ten administrative districts with 83 rural villages and 10 urban areas.
The regency was established on January 2, 2007, when it separated from Sangihe Islands through Law Number 15 to become an independent administrative entity. Ondong was designated as the capital of this newly formed territory.
People here follow strong Christian and Catholic traditions that shape daily life and community practices across the islands. Other religious groups add to this diverse spiritual landscape.
Getting around between the islands requires patience as transportation infrastructure continues to develop across the territory. Plan extra time for travel between the three main islands and to reach different settlements and villages.
Local communities sustain themselves through traditional fishing and farming methods that have shaped life on the three namesake islands of Siau, Tagulandang, and Biaro. These practices remain central to how people make their living today.
