Kintamani

Kintamani is a mountain district in Bangli situated on the western edge of Mount Batur's caldera. The area encompasses multiple villages, Lake Batur, and elevated terrain that shapes the region's climate and agricultural practices.

The district emerged as one of Bali's earliest kingdoms in the tenth century. Ancient stone records show that the region has a deep history of settlement and political significance.

Daily life here reflects traditional Balinese Hindu beliefs, with ritual offerings and ceremonies visible throughout the communities. The local people maintain ancestral customs in their temples and agricultural practices that shape the rhythm of each season.

The area is accessible by bus or private transport from larger Balinese cities, with travel taking several hours. The climate is cool and humid, so bring appropriate clothing and expect slippery conditions when it rains.

The district is home to the Kintamani dog breed, a native canine that gained international recognition. These dogs developed naturally in the region and have become a notable part of local identity.
