Bali Botanic Garden, Botanical garden in Tabanan, Indonesia.
Bali Botanic Garden is a botanical garden on the slopes of Gunung Pohen mountain, housing over 21,000 living plants from eastern Indonesia. The 157-hectare property includes multiple collection areas, conservatories, and open garden spaces organized by plant type and origin.
The garden was founded in 1959 as a branch of the Bogor National Botanic Gardens and temporarily closed in 1965. It reopened in 1975 and developed into an independent facility with expanding collections.
The Panca Yadnya section displays plants used for generations in Hindu ceremonies and traditional healing practices that are still part of daily spiritual life. Visitors can observe how these species remain woven into the community's religious and wellness routines.
The garden sits at 1,300 meters above sea level with daytime temperatures between 17–25°C and nighttime temperatures of 10–15°C. Humidity ranges from 70–90%, so visitors should bring lightweight, breathable clothing and rain protection.
The conservatories house Indonesia's largest begonia collection, with hundreds of varieties in different colors and forms. At the same time, visitors can also spot rare bird species and occasionally treeshrews moving through the garden.
