Austrian National Library, National library and museum in Neue Burg, Vienna, Austria.

The Austrian National Library holds more than 12 million items across its collections, with wooden shelves displaying over 200,000 historic books in the Grand Hall.

The institution began in 1368 as the Imperial Court Library, changing its name in 1920 after the end of Habsburg Monarchy and Austrian Republic proclamation.

The library maintains four museums, specialized collections, and archives that document Austrian literary heritage through manuscripts, rare books, maps, and musical compositions.

Visitors can access the library from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00, with extended hours until 21:00 on Thursdays, and entrance fees of 10 euros.

The Grand Hall features two Venetian Baroque globes measuring over one meter in diameter, representing Earth and sky in intricate detail.
