The January 20 monument features bronze figures rising from a granite base, reaching a total height of eight meters near Khatai metro station.
The memorial commemorates the events of January 20, 1990, when Soviet troops entered Baku, resulting in numerous civilian casualties during Azerbaijan's independence movement.
Names of 147 individuals who lost their lives during the January events are inscribed in gold letters on the granite pedestal of the monument.
The memorial complex occupies 1,500 square meters of space and includes designated areas for ceremonial gatherings and flower placement throughout the year.
The monument incorporates sculptural elements by Javanshir Dadashov and Azad Aliyev, representing the transformation of tragedy into national determination.
