Bosnian pyramid claims, Claimed ancient pyramid site near Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The site known as the Bosnian pyramids comprises several wooded hills near Visoko, whose slopes show partly triangular outlines. The elevations consist of layered conglomerate and sandstone, which has been exposed in some places.
Medieval settlements arose on the hills from the 13th century and left wall remains at the summits. Modern attention began in 2005 when a local researcher interpreted the formations as prehistoric structures.
The cone-shaped hills draw visitors who join guided tours and observe the marked rock layers and tunnel systems. At several points across the grounds, talks and group meetings take place where interpretations of the formations are shared.
Several paths lead to the excavation sites and through the tunnel system, with sturdy shoes recommended for the uneven trails. Most areas are walkable in dry weather, but slopes can turn slippery after rain.
The Ravne tunnel extends for several hundred meters beneath the hills and shows smooth walls interpreted by supporters as evidence of human work. Geologists explain these surfaces through natural erosion along rock joints.
