Devin, Administrative center in Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria
Devin is a municipal seat in the Rhodope Mountains, situated in the Vacha River valley at approximately 715 meters elevation. The area contains numerous hot springs and mineral water sources distributed throughout the surrounding region.
The settlement was initially Ottoman territory, later becoming the self-governed Pomak region known as the Republic of Tamrash before joining Bulgaria following the First Balkan War in 1912. These transitions shaped the town's identity over generations.
The town serves as a center for Pomak culture in the Rhodope region, where traditional crafts and local customs remain visible in daily life. Visitors can see this identity reflected in the architecture and community gatherings throughout the area.
