Teteven

The town stands at 412 meters elevation along the Vit River banks, surrounded by peaks reaching up to 2100 meters in the Balkan Mountains.

Written records first mention Teteven in 1421, and the settlement experienced severe destruction in 1801 when Turkish forces reduced it from 3000 to just 4 houses.

The Historical Museum of Teteven holds collections of regional artifacts and participates in the Bulgarian Tourist Union's Hundred National Tourist Sites program.

The municipality extends across 697 square kilometers of varied terrain, offering access to caves, waterfalls, and mountain trails throughout the Lovech region.
