Peristera

Located on the Sveta Petka hill, the fortress extends across 15 decares featuring a citadel, an inner city, and surrounding structures.

The fortress walls underwent reinforcement in the 5th century, with the entrance narrowed to 85 centimeters following an extensive attack and subsequent restoration.

Archaeological excavations revealed 80 pitosa storage jars, coins, military equipment, ornaments, glassware, and pottery, now displayed in the local museum.

The fortress remains accessible through clear signboards and navigation aids, with a dedicated parking area near the entrance for visitors.

The fortress includes six towers, among which two display an unusual church-like architecture not found in other Bulgarian fortifications.
