Huai'an

Huai'an extends across central Jiangsu Province with the Grand Canal flowing through its districts and Lake Hongze creating natural boundaries to the west.

Lake Hongze, China's fourth largest freshwater lake, formed suddenly in the 1100s when the Yellow River changed its course near the city.
