Zhuhai

Zhuhai is a special economic zone in Guangdong, China, stretching along the western shore of the Pearl River and comprising three administrative districts. The region includes more than two hundred islands and sits opposite Macau across a narrow waterway.

The Chinese government declared the city one of the first four special economic zones in the country in 1980. This decision transformed a former fishing area into a modern industrial center within a few decades.

The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge links these three cities together and shortens travel time between them considerably. Visitors can use public transport from the bridge terminal to reach different parts of town.

The city preserves nearly seven hundred kilometers of coastline and hosts numerous small islands, many of which are open to the public. Some of these islands lie only a short ferry ride from the mainland and offer quiet beaches away from urban areas.
