Bell Tower of Xi'an

The 36-meter-tall brick and timber structure stands at the intersection of four main streets, featuring green glazed tiles and intricate wooden frameworks.

Built in 1384 during the Ming Dynasty, the tower was relocated 1,000 meters to its current location in 1582 while maintaining its architectural integrity.

The tower houses bronze bells from the Tang Dynasty and marks time through six daily performances of traditional Chinese musical demonstrations.

Visitors can reach the Bell Tower via Line 2 of Xi'an Metro, stopping at Zhonglou Station, with underground passages providing access to the structure.

The relocation of this massive structure in 1582 represents an exceptional engineering achievement for the 16th century, preserving all original architectural elements.
