Daci'en Temple, Buddhist temple in Yanta District, China
The Daci'en Temple features multiple halls, traditional pagodas, and structures arranged within extensive gardens that showcase classical Chinese architectural elements.
Founded in 648 AD during the Tang Dynasty, the temple was initiated by Prince Li Zhi to honor his mother Empress Zhangsun and later rebuilt in 1466.
The temple maintains a collection of Buddhist texts and houses the Sarira of Xuanzang, who established the East Asian Yogācāra school of Buddhism.
Located in Xi'an, the temple complex includes the Mahavira Hall, Buddhist Texts Library, and nine distinct pagodas containing relics of successive temple abbots.
The temple preserves twenty palm leaf manuscripts that Xuanzang brought from India during his famous pilgrimage that inspired Journey to the West.
