Qujiang New District, Urban development district in southeastern Xi'an, China
Qujiang New District is a modern urban area in southeastern Xi'an that brings together historic sites, museums, parks, and shopping zones in one connected layout. The district is built around the Qujiang Pool and includes landmarks such as the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, the Tang Dynasty Arts Museum, and several open-air performance areas.
The land around the Qujiang Pool was an imperial resort during the Tang dynasty, roughly between the 7th and 10th centuries. The area was redeveloped starting in 1993 and grew into a full urban district from 2003 onward.
The area around the Great Wild Goose Pagoda is a popular gathering spot where people stroll in the evening, watch street performances, and join local festivals. The pagoda stands at the center of a wide plaza with fountains that draws both residents and visitors throughout the day.
The district can be reached by metro from central Xi'an, with several stations spread across the area. Most of the main sites are linked by pedestrian paths and lakeside walkways, making it easy to get around on foot.
The district is home to a marine aquarium located far inland, which is rare for a development of this kind in China. The same area also houses broadcasting facilities, giving it a media role that sits alongside its parks and historic sites.
