Wushan Yangtze River Bridge, Steel arch bridge in Wushan County, China
The Wushan Yangtze River Bridge is a steel arch structure spanning 616 meters across the river to carry traffic between county sections. Its main arch measures 460 meters in span and rises 130 meters above the water, forming a curved path for the road above.
Construction began in 2001 and was completed in 2005 to meet the growing need to connect different areas of the county. Its opening marked an important step in infrastructure development for the Yangtze River region.
The bridge links two parts of the county and is used daily by residents and commercial vehicles crossing between the banks. It has become an important point in the region's daily life, where people and goods move across the river regularly.
The bridge is open for regular vehicle traffic and carries the S301 Provincial Road across the river. Pedestrians can walk across and enjoy views of the water and surrounding landscape from above.
The Three Gorges Dam reservoir raised water levels and changed how high the bridge sits above the river. The flow and appearance of the water below shifts with seasons and dam management decisions.
