Zigui Yangtze River Bridge, Road and truss arch bridge in Zigui County, China
The Zigui Yangtze River Bridge is a road bridge with a truss arch design that spans the Yangtze River in Zigui County. It connects communities on either side of the river and functions as a major transportation route for the area.
The bridge was completed in 2019 and marks the most downstream crossing point over the Three Gorges reservoir basin. It united previously isolated communities and significantly improved transportation connections in this river region.
The bridge connects regions near the ancient Baidi City, where the celebrated poet Qu Yuan lived and created his influential works during the Kingdom of Chu.
The bridge is best reached via Route S255, which connects through a connector expressway about 5.5 kilometers long. Access is straightforward, though the crossing experiences regular traffic as it serves as a main transportation link for the region.
Engineers selected an arch design similar to the Wushan Bridge, positioning the road deck 117 meters above the reservoir's full level with 123 meters of water beneath.
