Sai Ying Pun station, MTR metro station in Central and Western District, Hong Kong.
Sai Ying Pun station is an MTR metro station with an island platform serving two tracks, situated at the intersection of High Street, Centre Street, and Third Street. The station has six entrances and extended corridors beneath Mid-Levels, connecting to hotels, residential areas, and community facilities.
The station opened on March 29, 2015, as part of the West Island Line extension project, connecting the western region of Hong Kong Island. This expansion linked previously separated communities to the city's main transit network.
The station displays "Street Scenes of Sai Ying Pun," a collection of monochrome photographs by artist Tse Ming-chong between the concourse and Exits B1/B2. These images capture everyday moments in the neighborhood and create a visual link between the station and the surrounding community.
The station offers multiple exits and connections to walkways in Mid-Levels and the surrounding area, making it easy to reach nearby hotels and residential zones. Allow extra time if you need to climb stairs or use escalators to reach ground level and your destination.
During construction, teams encountered challenging ground conditions that required specialized engineering solutions for the deep underground tunnels and platforms. These technical challenges remain hidden from everyday view but shaped how the station was built to last.
