St Lawrence's Church

St Lawrence's Church is a house of worship in southern Macau featuring neoclassical design with two square towers and a distinctive yellow exterior. The interior displays ornate columns supporting a vaulted ceiling that spans the main hall.

The church was originally founded by Jesuits before 1560 and gained its present appearance through major renovations completed in 1846. This transformation reflects how the building evolved to meet the needs of the growing community.

The church served as a gathering place where families expressed their hopes and prayers across generations. Its Chinese name Feng Shun Tang reflects a belief in the place as a source of protection and blessing.

The floor plan forms a Latin cross with distinctive proportions, where two side chapels occupy the shorter arms of the cross. This geometric arrangement creates a spatial flow that becomes immediately apparent when you step inside.
