Penha Hill, Natural elevation in São Lourenço, Macau.

The granite hill rises 62.7 meters above sea level, offering views of the Macau peninsula, harbor, and three major connecting bridges.

Portuguese Augustinian followers constructed the Penha Church at the summit in 1622, establishing the hill as a navigational reference point.

A traditional religious procession carries a statue of Mary from St Dominic Chapel to Penha Hill during Easter celebrations.

Public transportation routes 6, 9, 16, and 28B provide access to the hill, with the nearest stop located at A-Ma Temple.

British artist George Chinnery selected this elevation as a recurring subject in his paintings, documenting the Macau landscape of past centuries.

The most beautiful spots to photograph in Macau

Macau captivates with its contrasts. In a single day, you can go from a Portuguese quarter with cobblestone streets to a hidden temple behind a staircase, and then to a futuristic hotel lit up like a film set. The city combines baroque facades, grand casinos, and quiet gardens where a few tai chi practitioners are seen. Between Coloane and Cotai, each district offers a different vibe that attracts travelers looking for striking photos and unique urban scenes. This selection features the most photogenic sites in Macau, from colonial heritage to coastal views.
