Macau Tower, Observation tower in Macau, China.
The Macau Tower is a 338-meter concrete structure in the Macau Special Administrative Region of China, featuring an observation deck that offers views across the Pearl River Delta. The layout includes multiple floors with entertainment and dining areas as well as convention spaces in the lower section of the complex.
Stanley Ho, a Macau casino magnate, commissioned the project in 1998 with inspiration from Auckland's Sky Tower, and the facility opened in December 2001. The tower added to the leisure infrastructure in Macau following the handover to China in 1999.
The structure often appears as a backdrop for wedding photos and regularly features in travel magazines as a city landmark that blends modern leisure culture with public gatherings. The revolving restaurant near the top gives a sense of how Macau combines its role as an international destination with local dining habits.
The observation deck and facilities inside are open from Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 21:00, with wait times potentially longer on weekends. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as the complex spans multiple floors and some attractions involve physical activity.
The facility holds the record for the highest commercial bungee jump platform in the world at 233 meters (764 feet) above ground. The speed of free fall reaches around 200 kilometers per hour (124 miles per hour) before the cord engages.
