The pier was established in 1974 on Mei Foo's seawall as an informal landing point before being developed into a functional dock. After the MTR Tsuen Wan line opened in 1982, passenger traffic shifted to rail, leading to the ferry service's closure and the pier's demolition in 1984.
The pier is easy to reach and located near buses, subway lines, and local shops, making arrival straightforward for visitors. Comfortable clothing and spare time to watch boats are recommended, as this is a calm place suited for relaxing and exploring Hong Kong's waterways.
The site was originally an informal landing spot on the seawall before becoming a proper dock, reflecting a lesser-known chapter of Hong Kong's water transport history. The location was later transformed into Lai Chi Kok Park, leaving no visible trace of the original pier today.
