The Education University of Hong Kong, Teacher education university in Tai Po, Hong Kong
The Education University of Hong Kong is a teacher training institution located in Tai Po that occupies a hillside campus with numerous academic buildings. The grounds feature modern facilities for learning, research, and student living spread across different levels.
The institution was founded in 1994 by merging five separate teacher training colleges into a single campus. It gained university status and its present name in 2016 after significant institutional development.
Students from different regions participate in educational research programs, contributing to academic development and teaching methodology advancement in Hong Kong.
The campus is distributed across a sloping terrain with buildings at different elevations, so comfortable walking shoes are useful for getting around. Visitors should allow time to locate specific departments as they are spread across the hillside rather than concentrated in one area.
The site was originally part of a military installation in the 1980s before being converted into an academic campus. Traces of this earlier use remain visible in the layout and structure of some buildings on the grounds.
