Youmin Temple, Buddhist temple in Donghu District, Nanchang, China
Youmin Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary in Donghu District featuring traditional yellow walls and red pillars, located at 181 Minde Road. The complex comprises multiple halls including the Shanmen gate and the Hall of Heavenly Kings, which form the spiritual core of the site.
This sanctuary originated during the Southern Dynasties period and expanded significantly during the Tang Dynasty into a major complex. Today the visible structure represents only a fraction of what once stood on these grounds.
The temple serves as a living center for Buddhist practice, where monks lead regular ceremonies and visitors engage in prayer, light candles, and burn incense at various shrines. It remains deeply woven into the spiritual life of the local community.
The complex is easily accessible by metro, with Line 2 serving Fuzhou Road Station and Line 3 serving Dunzitang Station, both near the entrance. The grounds are typically open to visitors from morning to late afternoon.
Inside the temple sits a distinctive copper-cast Buddha statue that represents the skilled metalwork of earlier times. This rare sculpture demonstrates the craftsmanship that artisans brought to religious objects in past centuries.
