Island Harbourview, Private residential complex in Yau Tsim Mong District, Hong Kong.
Island Harbourview is a private residential complex in Yau Tsim Mong featuring nine towers offering apartments from roughly 560 to 1,200 square feet with harbor views. The development combines modern construction with local architectural principles, creating an integrated living community in a newly developed area.
The project was the first housing estate completed in the newly reclaimed area, finishing construction between 1998 and 1999. It served as a pioneer development that helped extend Hong Kong's residential landscape into this newly created zone.
The design follows Chinese numerological customs by intentionally skipping the number four in tower designation, a practice deeply rooted in Hong Kong's architectural traditions. This choice reflects how traditional beliefs shape the modern residential spaces that people call home in the city.
The complex offers direct access to Olympic Station on the MTR network, making it easy to travel throughout the city. Shopping and dining options are available right next door at Olympian City, within easy walking distance.
The area was originally open water before landfill transformed it into solid ground for this residential development. This water-to-land conversion is part of Hong Kong's unusual urban expansion story.
