Yuet Wah College, school in Macau
Yuet Wah College is a secondary school in Macau spread across several buildings on its campus. The facility includes a large library, science laboratories, air-conditioned classrooms, computer rooms, and the Jubilee Complex with its oval shape for sports and events, complemented by the eight-story Dominic Building with modern teaching spaces.
The school was founded in 1925 in Guangzhou and moved to Macau in 1928 to escape political turmoil in China. The Macau government granted the school land in 1933 for growth, and later its girls section separated in 1973 to establish Sacred Heart Canossian College.
The school's name reflects traditional Chinese concepts and transmits values rooted in local culture. It celebrates Chinese New Year and other important festivals with decorations and activities that help students understand their cultural roots and build pride in local traditions.
The campus is spread across multiple buildings with different facilities located in various areas. Visitors should allow time to explore the different sections, especially the Jubilee Complex and Rinaldi Building, as they are key gathering places for school activities.
The school was run by the Salesians, a Catholic community inspired by Don Bosco, and taught a special Preventive Educational System. This approach focuses on helping students develop good habits and morals while pursuing their academic goals.
