Bei'an Bridge, Historic bridge in Tianjin, China
Bei'an Bridge is a crossing in Tianjin connecting Victory Road in Hebei District with Fu'an Street in Heping District across the Hai River. The structure features granite-paved walkways and dedicated bicycle lanes for movement between the two sides.
The structure was originally built in 1939 as a wooden construction and underwent major reconstruction in 1973. This renovation transformed it into a modern concrete structure with the name it carries today.
Bronze statues of dancing musicians holding traditional instruments like pipa and sheng stand along the structure, with mythological creatures positioned at its ends. These sculptures reflect how music and folklore remain visible parts of the space visitors walk through.
The structure is freely accessible throughout the day without any entrance fees required. Visitors should expect it to be busiest during morning and evening commuting hours, so off-peak times offer a more relaxed crossing.
The design blends French architectural influences with Chinese elements, particularly through dragon motifs and traditional musical themes visible throughout. This combination emerged during a period when Tianjin absorbed influences from multiple foreign cultures.
