Temple of Great Compassion

Temple of Great Compassion is a Buddhist temple that spans a large area with distinct sections designed for different purposes. The western section contains three main halls, while the eastern section houses ceremonial spaces and administrative offices for religious organizations.

The temple was founded in 1658 during the Qing dynasty and became an important center for Buddhist practice in the region. Over the centuries, it developed into a place for religious education and the preservation of Buddhist traditions.

The temple houses the Tianjin Buddhist Institute and displays Buddha statues crafted from various materials including bronze, iron, stone, and wood. These works in the Cultural Relic Palace reflect the diverse religious traditions that visitors can observe here.

Visitors can explore the temple during daytime hours and walk through the various halls and courtyards at their own pace. It is advisable to allow plenty of time to properly view all areas of the site.

Inside stands a striking statue featuring thousands of small carved details that reveal the extraordinary craftsmanship involved in its creation. This elaborate work showcases the artistic depth of Buddhist art traditions found at this site.
