Tap Seac Square, Central public square in São Lázaro district, Macau, China.
Tap Seac Square is a public plaza covering roughly 13,000 square meters (140,000 sq ft) in Macau, surrounded by yellow neoclassical buildings. The area houses the Central Library and Cultural Affairs Bureau alongside an open stone-paved space.
The site began as a swampy area with three large rocks that was converted into a football field during the 1920s. This transformation eventually led to its development into the current square in 2007.
The square hosts the Lunar New Year Fair, Tap Seac Art Fair, and community celebrations throughout the year. People gather here to participate in events that connect the neighborhood residents.
The plaza is within walking distance of Thai restaurants, cafes, a swimming pool, and vintage shops in the surrounding area. The stone-paved surface is easy to navigate and offers plenty of open space for strolling and sitting.
Early mornings bring local residents practicing Tai Chi while families play badminton across the expansive grounds. These daily activities reveal how the space serves as a hub for movement and well-being for nearby communities.
