Liuhou Temple, Buddhist temple in Liuzhou, China.
Liuhou Temple is a temple complex within Liuzhou's Liuhou Park, featuring multiple halls decorated with traditional Chinese architectural details and intricate stone carvings. The layout spreads across a large area with ornamental features visible on roofs, columns, and throughout open courtyards.
The complex was built in 1909 during the Qing Dynasty to commemorate Liu Zongyuan, a Tang Dynasty official and scholar who once served in Liuzhou. His tenure in the city left lasting marks on local culture and intellectual traditions.
The temple bears the name of a celebrated Tang Dynasty poet and official whose literary legacy is honored here. Visitors can discover inscriptions with classical poems carved into stones and displayed on walls throughout the grounds.
The temple can be reached by several bus routes, including lines 31 and 105, with the main entrance at the south gate of the park. Arriving early helps you explore the halls and courtyards without crowds and take your time observing the architectural details.
The temple grounds include the Luochi Pool, a water feature that becomes particularly lovely when the moon rises above Dongtai Mountain across the way. This reflective surface creates a serene spot that draws visitors to linger and observe.
