Han-Gräber der Könige von Lu, Ancient royal cemetery at Jiulongshan and Tingshan, Qufu, China.

The Han royal tombs of Lu are burial sites spread across two locations called Jiulongshan and Tingshan in the city of Qufu. Each complex contains underground chambers connected by passageways where the ruling families of that era were laid to rest.

Archaeologists excavated the tombs during the 1970s and discovered thousands of objects along with remains of chariots and horses. These findings reveal that the rulers of Lu buried their kings with considerable ceremony and resources.

The burial sites show how royal families of the Western Han period honored their dead and what they considered valuable for the afterlife. Visitors can see how the ancient rulers of Lu understood power and wealth through the objects they chose to take with them.

Visitors should arrange a visit in advance, as the site is not freely accessible and guided tours are available. A guide is helpful for understanding the underground structures and the significance of the objects that were discovered there.

The excavations uncovered an unusually large number of horses that had been buried alongside valuable chariots. This discovery offers a rare glimpse into the burial customs of the ancient rulers of Lu.
