Zhengfusi Catholic Church, Catholic church in Xicheng District, Beijing, China
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception stands near Beijing Financial Street with its twin towers and European architectural elements rising above the surrounding buildings.
Italian Jesuit Matteo Ricci established the first chapel at this location in 1605, during the Ming Dynasty reign of the Wanli Emperor.
The cathedral conducts services in multiple languages including Latin, Mandarin, English, Italian, and Spanish to accommodate its international congregation.
The cathedral currently undergoes renovation works, with regular masses and religious ceremonies temporarily relocated to an alternative venue.
Following its destruction in the Boxer Rebellion of 1900, the cathedral was reconstructed in Baroque style and completed in 1904.
