Dahui Temple, Buddhist temple in Haidian District, China
Dahui Temple is a Buddhist temple in Haidian District that houses twenty-eight large colored statues of Buddhist deities spread throughout its halls and courtyards. These figures stand over ten feet (three meters) tall and dominate the appearance of the inner spaces.
Construction of the temple began in 1513 during the Ming Dynasty. Major restoration work occurred in 1757 to preserve its architectural features.
Buddhist ceremonies take place regularly in the halls where visitors can observe prayer and worship. The spaces are organized around altars and sacred objects that reflect the daily spiritual life of practitioners.
The temple is located near Xueyuan Nan Road and can be reached by public transportation. Visitors should allow time to walk through the various halls and courtyards to see all the statues.
