Beijing Air and Space Museum

This aviation and aerospace museum in Beijing displays more than 300 objects across about 8,300 square meters (90,000 square feet), including aircraft, rockets, satellites, and other space equipment from China and around the world. The collection ranges from historical planes to modern spacecraft and technologies.

The museum was founded in 1985 as an aviation museum growing out of a display collection at Beihang University. A major renovation in 2012 updated the exhibits and expanded the presentation of space technology.

The museum displays aircraft and spacecraft that show how China developed aviation and space exploration. The exhibits combine Chinese achievements with international examples, showing what role these technologies play in the country.

The museum is located on the Beihang University campus and is well served by public transportation. Plan to spend several hours exploring the different exhibition areas, as the collection is spread across multiple sections.

The museum houses one of only two surviving Northrop P-61 Black Widow night fighters from World War II in the world. This rare aircraft is a highlight for visitors interested in military history and aircraft engineering.
