The Arthur M. Sackler Museum at Peking University is a university museum housing more than 10,000 objects from different periods of Chinese history. The collection includes bronze, jade, pottery, and archaeological finds spanning many centuries.
The museum was founded in 1993 through partnership with Dr. Arthur M. Sackler and Peking University. The university had established its first archaeology research center in 1922, which formed the basis for today's collection.
The collection presents objects that shaped Chinese civilization, from simple tools to elaborate bronzes and jade pieces. Visitors can trace how people created and valued different materials across thousands of years.
The museum sits on the western campus and is open daily. Visitors should bring their passport and enter through the West Gate.
The museum displays the skeleton of an early human who lived in this region about 250,000 years ago. This fossil is among the oldest human remains found in China and shows the long history of settlement here.
