Zhengjue Temple, Buddhist temple in Qinglongqiao Subdistrict, China.
Zhengjue Temple is a Buddhist temple in Qinglongqiao with a striking Diamond Throne Pagoda as its central structure, decorated with intricate stone carvings and traditional architectural details. The complex sits along the Changhe River and combines multiple buildings and courtyards in classical Chinese style.
The temple was founded during Emperor Chengzu's Yongle era between 1403 and 1424, when religious buildings were frequently constructed across the region. It received its present name Grand Zhengjue Temple in 1761.
The temple walls display one thousand Buddha carvings alongside various Buddhist symbols, animals, floral designs, and Sanskrit texts carved into stone. These decorations tell a story about the spiritual beliefs of people who have come here for centuries.
The site is easily accessible by public transportation, with several bus routes serving the area and connecting to nearby landmarks along the river. Plan time to examine the stone carvings closely, and visit during daylight hours to see the decorative details clearly.
The Diamond Throne Pagoda is one of only about ten such rare structures across China, with several examples found in the Beijing region. This special building form makes it valuable for visitors interested in comparing different religious architectural styles.
