Beijing National Indoor Stadium, Indoor arena in Olympic Green, Beijing, China

The National Indoor Stadium (Folding Fan) is an arena at Olympic Green in Chaoyang, Beijing, made up of a main hall, a secondary hall, an ice hockey hall and a south plaza, with about 98,000 square metres of floor area. Its wave-shaped roof, steel frame and glass curtain wall form the image of an open Chinese folding fan. The main hall seats 18,000 fixed spectators plus 2,000 temporary places.

This venue opened in 2007 and served as a key location during the 2008 Summer Olympics for gymnastics, trampoline, and handball competitions. Following the Games, it was adapted to serve different purposes, including ice hockey during the 2022 Winter Olympics.

The roof's curved surface and surrounding steel frame and glass walls form the shape of an open Chinese folding fan, giving the arena its nickname, shanzi (fan). The wave-like roof visually connects with the flat-roofed Water Cube to the south and the single-curve National Convention Center, unifying the Olympic Green skyline.

The venue is easily accessible by public transportation, including several bus routes and subway line 10 connecting to Xiongmaohuandao Station. The location is convenient for visitors attending sporting competitions and other events held here.

The interior can be reconfigured for different event types, transforming between layouts that work for ice hockey, concerts, or other activities. This adaptability allows it to shift purposes quickly between one event and the next.
