Yau Kung School

Yau Kung School is a declared monument in Ha Tsuen featuring three main halls and two courtyards displaying traditional Chinese architecture. The structures sit within a Tang family compound that also houses an ancestral hall.

The school developed near an ancestral hall founded by the Tang family and played an important role in educating Ha Tsuen residents. It closed in 1996 and was later restored by the Antiquities and Monuments Office.

The school is part of a larger heritage complex connected to the Tang family, showing their importance to the Ha Tsuen community. Visitors can see how the spaces reflect traditional Chinese values and family structures.

The compound is open on most days, allowing visitors to explore mornings and afternoons while it closes during midday hours. It is helpful to check ahead since hours can vary and to plan a brief visit since the buildings are modest in scale.

The rear section of the ancestral hall now houses an alumni association that formed after restoration work was completed. This shows how historic places remain connected to the local community long after their original purpose ended.
