Nos. 190-204 & 210-212 Prince Edward Road West, Grade II historic building in Yau Tsim Mong District, Hong Kong.

Description

Nos. 190-204 and 210-212 Prince Edward Road West is a two-story building complex from the 1930s with traditional shophouse architecture and detailed facade elements. The structure features shops at ground level with living quarters above, typical of the shophouse design of that period.

History

The building was constructed in 1932 by a Belgian company as part of a group of sixteen pre-war structures designed for middle-class families. This construction group was part of Hong Kong's residential development during the early modern period.

Culture

The building displays a blend of Chinese and Western style features that reflect how the neighbourhood developed during the 1930s. The ground-floor shops and upper living spaces show how people lived and worked in this part of the city.

Practical

The building is within walking distance of Prince Edward MTR station and easily accessible by several nearby bus stops. The location is straightforward to reach using public transportation and sits in a well-connected neighbourhood.

Did you know?

The facade retains original features from the 1930s while ground-floor shops operate with modern purposes today. This side-by-side existence of old and new is typical of many historic neighbourhoods in Hong Kong.
